User experience changes in Catalina for Acrobat users
- Acrobat 2015: If you download Classic 2015 Acrobat or Reader patches from the release notes or the FTP site, you see a notarization prompt and the installation is blocked. It's general behavior for all installer packages downloaded using a browser and not from the Mac App Store. To begin the installation, right-click the installer and choose Open.
- A permission prompt appears on the upper-right corner. Click Allow to enable notifications.
- Recent: An OS permission prompt is shown if you open files from Recents, which were added in Recents before you upgraded to Catalina.
If you don't allow, you see an Acrobat prompt showing information on what to do next.

- Thumbnails of files in Recent and other areas: Thumbnails appear for those files for which Acrobat has read permission.

What's New¶
Fill and Sign¶
- The Sign Pane was renamed to Fill & Sign and the three related panels were unified in this single view. Form fill-in and signing workflows are made more usable since the forms tools now appear along with the signing tools.
In Reader, the Fill & Sign Pane automatically opens when form fields are present.
The tool logic is enhanced so that form fill-in is always possible even if another tool is selected. Starting a typing action simply deselects other tools.
Enterprise configuration via registry and plist preferences: Fresh install yosemite.

Recent files¶
- The startup screen displays a short list of recent files list and provides a View All link which opens the full list.
Choosing Open on the top menu opens a full recent file's list that can access any file on the machine or on Acrobat.com. The list provide the following features:
- Thumbnail view
- File search
- File details such as size and last modified date
- Hove over the Menu icon to change how you view and sort your recent files list.
- The recent files list now contains up to 100 files. The default of 100 can be configured via the
iMaxMRUCntToBeStored
. A link to the full list also appears on the product's startup Welcome screen.
Hi DPI and Retina support¶
- The Tools, Fill & Sign, and Comment panes are compatible with Hi DPI systems.

Acrobat Reader Download
The recent expansion of digital certificate usage has prompted Adobe to change the processing of Key Usage (KU) and Extended Key Usage (EKU) certificate extensions when performing digital signature creation in Acrobat products. This change means the following:
- Acrobat products better conform to RFC 5280 (Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Certificate and Certificate Revocation List (CRL) Profile).
- Existing credentials (certificates) that do not adhere to the requirements described in the Digital Signatures Guide may no longer be used for signing within Acrobat or Reader. Invalid certificates no longer appear in the certificate drop down list in the Sign Document dialog.
PDF Creation¶
Added Support PDF creation for AutoCAD 2013 64-bit PDFMaker & Import Comments.
Fonts¶
The Hindi Devanagari font is added to the 11.x font bundle. This change results in 11.0.09 showing a dialog when the opening a PDF containing extended language fonts which asks if latest font pack for Windows or Mac should be installed.
